Primark names US VP and head of Penneys in Ireland

PrimarkRepublicO’Neill who’s been promoted to the newly created role of Vice-President of US Retail where Primark is on a major expansion programme to open 60 new stores in the US by 2026.


Fintan Costello

Costello has been with Primark for over 30 years and takes the helm as the brand invests €250 million (£215 million) in Ireland. This includes the development, relocation and refurbishment of its stores across the country, and the opening of a new distribution centre in Newbridge, Co Kildare next year.

In a wide-ranging career with Primark, he most recently led projects for the retailer’s global commercial team based Dublin. He has also worked for the retailer’s German and Austrian operations as an Area Manager and then Commercial Manager for 11 years. He has also served in a variety of roles at Primark in Spain and the UK, as well as General Manager at Penneys flagship store in Dublin.


Damien O’Neill

Meanwhile, O’Neill is another Primark veteran with over two decades of retail experience. He has been head of the Irish and Northern Irish business for two years and prior to that held a series of roles managing a number of stores in the UK, leading Primark’s in-store experience transformation across a number of markets and establishing Primark’s French business.
