FIFA World Cup 2022: England beat Senegal 3-0 to reach quarter-finals

England reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Senegal on Sunday, with skipper Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka getting on the scoresheet..

England started the game on the front foot and forced Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy into a good save in the opening minutes, but it was the African side that had the first real chance of the game when Boulaye Dia fired over from close range..

England took the lead in the 38th minute when a cross found Henderson unmarked at the back post and the Liverpool midfielder made no mistake with a powerful header..

Senegal came out fighting in the second half but it was England who doubled their lead in the 45th minute when Kane scored from the penalty spot after Fode Ballo-Toure was adjudged to have fouled Saka..

Saka made it 3-0 in the 57th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box and England controlled the game for the remainder of the match..

England will now face France in the quarter-finals on Saturday..
